About Juan Martin Del Potro

Juan Martin del Potro

Juan Martin del Potro is a professional tennis player from Argentina. He was born in 1988 in Tandil, Argentina. Coming from a family with a strong sports background, Juan's talent in tennis was discovered in his youth. By 14, Juan had won the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship. In 2002, del Potro won several professional tournaments by playing against adults. Today, he is at position 3 in the men's singles ranking by the Association of Tennis Professionals.

Del Potro's professional career looked impressive from the word go. In 2005, he won a challenger event and finished as one of the top 200 players of the year. However, this right-handed aggressive baseliner (two-handed backhand) is characterized by big blows that could throw someone out of the court.

His tremendous and accurate hits have won him several titles, including the 2009 Grand Slam victory at the US Open. He also holds nine career titles on the ATP tour. Other significant achievements include: Australian Open: Quarterfinalist (2009, 2012), French Open: Semifinalist (2009, 2018), Wimbledon: Semifinalist (2013).

Juan started playing tennis at the age of seven. His first coach Ugo Colombini, who was also a tennis player, played a massive role in ensuring Juan's career kickoff. The two are still close associates.

After his win in 2009, most tennis enthusiasts thought del Potro would be the biggest challenger. However, multiple injuries have always had a way of stopping him. Nevertheless, he has played many professional tournaments, won several Olympic medals, tournament titles, and so much more. Although hand injuries seem to locate him, Juan has already achieved two of his dreams, including winning a Grand Slam and the Davis Cup.
