WTA Madrid Open live scores, results today, draws

From April 30 to May 9, 2021, the eyes of the tennis world will be upon La Caja Mágica. The creme de la creme of women's tennis will land in Spain's capital for the WTA Madrid 2021 tournament, and most of them will come with a point to prove. Top-rated tennis players trying to prove a point can mean only one thing, the WTA Madrid 2021 will be quite the spectacle.

WTA Madrid 2021 Favourites

The WTA Madrid 2021 tournament will see some of the best names in women's tennis hit Madrid's clay courts for the 12th time since 2009.

The list of favourites for the latest edition of the Madrid Open includes last year's winner Kiki Bertens, as well as the likes of Naomi Osaka, Simona Halep, Elina Svitolina, and Ashleigh Barty.

Kiki Bertens surprised quite a few people when she won the 2019 tournament she entered as the 7th seed. However, she fully deserved the plaudits she got as she defeated defending champion Petra Kvitova and triumphed over four-time finalist Simona Halep in the final. Moreover, the Dutch champion clinched the title by winning all of her sets and became the first woman that has won the Madrid Open without giving away a set.

However, despite winning the last Madrid Open, Bertens probably won't be the main favourite to win the next edition of the tournament. The Madrid Open 2021 results will tell us if the experts are right when they say that Simona Halep will be the player to beat at WTA Madrid 2021.

The Romanian won the Madrid Open two times in 2016 and 2017, and also appeared in two more finals that she lost in 2014 and 2019. She can equal Kvitova's record of three Madrid titles, and that should be enough of an incentive for Halep to give her best when she lands in Madrid.
