The WTA Beijing Open 2021 is a Premier Mandatory tournament on the WTA Tour that is played on hard courts at the National Tennis Center in Beijing. The 2021 Beijing Open will be the 17th edition of the Premier Mandatory tournament, as the 2020 Beijing Open was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Beijing Open 2021 Favourites

The last player to have won the China Open is Naomi Osaka. The 2019 WTA Beijing Open was one of the most competitive to date, and Naomi Osaka, Ashleigh Barty, as well as Caroline Wozniacki and Kiki Bertens all impressed.

Except for the retired Wozniacki, Beijing tennis fans can expect the other three tennis stars to dominate the hard courts of the Chinese capital in 2021 too.

Naomi Osaka triumphed over Ashleigh Barty in the 2019 Chinese Open final with 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. That was one of her best performances of the year, and that says quite a lot, especially when you consider that she won the Australian Open in that same year.

Before losing in the final, Barty played a long and exhausting three-set thriller against Kiki Bertens that took a lot out of her and was probably the reason she lost in the final. As such, she will be even more motivated to win in 2021.

Other candidates for the 2021 Beijing Open title include 2019 second and third seeds Karolina Pliskova and Elina Svitolina, as well as 2015 champion Garbine Muguruza and 2017 finalist Simona Halep.
