ATP Italian Open live scores, results today, draws

The Italian Open is the most prestigious Italian tennis tournament, and one of the most eagerly awaited tennis events of the year. It has been taking place for ninety years now and is one of the top-rated clay tournaments in the world.

The latest edition of the Italian Open, the Rome Open 2021, will take place from May 9 to May 16. It's fair to say that, even as early as now, there's quite a lot of excitement around the Rome tennis 2021 schedule and the mouth-watering match-ups it will serve.

ATP Rome 2021 Prospects

Nobody loves clay courts as much as the Spanish El Nino, and nowhere is this more obvious than in Italy's capital. Rafael Nadal has won the Rome Open nine times in the past sixteen years and is the undisputed Emperor of Rome's tennis courts.

His main rival for the most prestigious Italian tennis title will be the usual clay court suspect. Novak Djokovic won the tournament in 2020, and that was his fifth Italian Open title. He will be Nadal's main challenger for the Rome Open 2021 tennis throne and will draw strength from the fact that he has ten final appearances in the Italian Open.

Other candidates for the illustrious Rome Masters trophy and points that come with it include 2017 Italian Open winner Alexander Zverev, four-time finalist Roger Federer, as well as perpetual contenders such as Dominic Thiem, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Daniil Medvedev. Only time and ATP Rome 2021 results will tell whether any of these players will be able to upstage record-breaker Nadal or dethrone the current champion, Djokovic.
