About Kateryna Volodko

Angelique Kerber is a German tennis professional who officially entered the world of tennis in 2003. However, her aspiration for this sport began long before. She was merely three years old when she started playing. She even went on to play at various junior circuit events but could not yield any titles at that time.

For Angelique, success never occurred overnight. Her strong perseverance helped her improve herself over time to grab the WTA world No. 1 spot in 2016. She has 12 singles titles to her name, which she gained playing at WTA Tour on all surfaces. Some of the Grand Slams titles she won during her career include the 2016 US Open and Australian Open and the 2018 Wimbledon Championships.

Angelique’s parents are of Polish descent. However, she was born and brought up in Germany for a significant part of her childhood. She holds dual citizenship of nations Germany and Poland. However, she officially represents the former nation during her tennis tours. During the 2016 Rio Olympics, she represented Germany and won a silver medal for her country.

One peculiar thing about Angelique is that she gives outstanding tennis performances with her left-handed play even though she is right-handed. Moreover, apart from tennis, she is also a massive football fanatic and her favourite team is FC Bayern Munich.

Further, Angelique has set up Angie Kerber Tennis Academy to help and coach the next generation in tennis. Additionally, she is also an ambassador for UNICEF’s children charity.
