Jean-Julien Rojer's

Born on June 8th 1997, in Riga, Latvian, Jelena Ostapenko is a pro tennis player with a career-high WTA ranking of world number 5 in singles and number 17 in doubles. 

Ostapenko rose to fame when she won the 2017 French Open single title, making her the first Latvian to win a Grand Slam tournament. In addition, the right-handed player is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world who loves to take big cuts at every shot.

Ostapenko is the daughter of the former professional football player, Jevgenijs Ostapenko and Jelena Jakovleva. She has a half brother called Maksim, who currently lives in the USA. 

It was not until Ostapenko was 5 years old when she got introduced to tennis by her mother. She grew up idolizing Serena Williams and attributes her excellent footwork to the dancing classes she took at an earlier age. 

At the moment, she is coached by Thomas Högstedt and her mother, who formerly worked with popular superstars like David Taylor, Marion Bartoli, Glen Schaap and Krisjanis Stabins. 

Hobbies and Interest of Ostapenko

Ostapenko is known by her nickname ‘Aloha’ in her hometown. She has a dog named Juljeta and loves playing around with him. She loves listening to music and dancing, as well as going out with friends. 

Ostapenko speaks Latvian, English, and Russian and enjoys spending time with her parents. She likes to keep her personal life away from the public, though rumour has it that she is still single.
