About Cem Ilkel

Varvara Gracheva is a Russian tennis ace who achieved a career-high ranking of 89 in 2020. It was her mother who introduced her to the sport of tennis and coached her until the age of 14.

In 2016, she started her career playing in the ITF events in Egypt. However, it was next year when she clinched her first ITF singles title. After this, she grabbed one more ITF title in 2018, playing finals against Sofia Shapatava in Turkey.

2019 also proved to be an incredible year for Varvara as she won two ITF titles and came victorious at Montpellier Open. Further, in September 2019, she won two more tournaments - Open de Saint-Malo in France and Open de Valencia in Spain. Altogether, she holds seven ITF singles titles to her name in such a short span of her career.

Further, in 2020, she played in French Open but was disqualified after the first round. In the 2020 US Open, she made it to round 3 but was defeated by Petra Martic. Just like 2020, 2021 was also not a great year for this young lady.

She was able to participate in the 2021 Australian Open and French Open tournaments only to be disqualified after the second and third rounds, respectively. Although she has proved herself in some of the events, Varvara still has a long way to go in her career.

She is known to perform well on clay surfaces. Currently, Varvara is training at the ETC Academy Cannes.
