Shuai Zhang is a popular Chinese tennis player born on 21 January 1989 in Tianjin, China. Zhang's skills and determination earned her a career-high ranking of world number 23 in the singles in 2016 and world number 9 in the doubles in 2019.

Shuai was born into a sports-loving family. Her father, Zhang Zhiqiang, was a professional football player and her mother, Wang Fengqin, is a former basketball player. Her love for the racket started when she was only five years old after being introduced to the sport by her parents. 

By the age of 12, Zhang was working with a Chinese Tennis Association. As a young tennis player, she idolized world superstars like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. 

The best memories in her tennis career are playing in the mixed doubles with Pete Sampras in 2011, winning the 2019 Australian Open doubles alongside Sam Stosur and reaching the 2016 Australian Open and 2019 Wimbledon quarter-finals.
