About Dusan Lajovic

Born in Belgrade on June 30th, 1990, Dusan Lajovic is a Serbian professional tennis player, currently ranking at the 41st spot on the ATP list. Recently, he has won 2 doubles titles and won the 2019 Croatia Open single tournament. His career record is 142–182, and he is more successful playing on clay courts. Dusan prefers the clay surface since his strengths as a tennis player include strong serves with heavy kicks, which are especially effective on such surfaces.

His current residence is at Stara Pazova, the same town where he started playing tennis at only seven years old. His training at TK. Partizan Belgrade began at a very young age, and eventually, he started working with coach Boris Bosnjakovic in 2012. In the same year, Dusan played in the Davis Cup for the first time, reached the final of the Orbetello Challenger and won the Samarkand Challenger.

On the way to his first title in 2019, he played some tough matches against formidable opponents at multiple tournaments. Notably, he lost in the fourth round of the 2014 French Open against the then world number one Rafael Nadal. The following year, at the same competition, he lost in the second round to Stan Wawrinka, who went on to win the tournament. Dusan got close to glory at the Brasil Open in 2016, where he reached the semi-finals, only to lose against Pablo Cuevas. In 2019 however, he was the best player at the Croatia Open and won the finals against Attila Balazs in 2 sets 7-5, 7-5 to win his first silverware at a major tournament.
