Cori Gauff
Cori Gauff is an American tennis genius that is the youngest player to be ranked among the top 100 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). She was under the sports influence since her childhood because of her parents. While her father was a basketball player, her mother was a fine athlete. They encouraged her to try different sports before she finally chose tennis. This particular sport drew her attention during the 2009 Australian Open when she watched Serena Williams win the tournament on her TV.
At the age of six, she started her journey towards achieving a career in the tennis world. Due to this, she even considers Williams sisters as her idols. Also, her independent personality (which discarded team-based sports) led her to tennis.
She clenched her first WTA singles title at the age of 15 during the 2019 Linz Open. This achievement made her the youngest WTA singles title-holder since 2004. Currently, she is world No. 35 in singles & No.42 in doubles.
However, all this pressure at such a young age led Gauff to experience stress and depression. However, her parents denied any such condition.
All in all, this young player still has miles to go and can even be seen on the list of top 10 tennis players of the world soon.
