<p>Liudmila Samsonova is a Russian tennis ace born on November 11 1998, in Olenegorsk, Murmansk, Russia. After a year, she moved with her family to Italy, where she grew up. However, before turning to play for Russia, she represented Italy from 2014 to 2018.</p>
<p>As of August 2021, she holds the WTA world singles rank of 51. But her doubles ranking stood at 666 globally in August 2017.</p>

<p>Liudmila’s dad Dmitry Samsonova was a table tennis player. At a very young age, he asked her to play either lawn tennis or table tennis like him. Little Liudmila chose tennis and started playing it. </p>
<p>At the age of six, she entered the tennis academy of Riccardo Piatti in Sanremo, Italy. Since her upbringing was in Italy, she played for the Italian national team till 2018. However, she started experiencing too much pressure while competing for this team. </p>
<p>Also, she lacked Italian citizenship and had to face several difficulties to obtain it. Hence, she decided to opt to represent Russia, wherein she has the freedom to play for herself. </p>
